After law school I spent two years clerking for a federal judge in
New Orleans, where I learned the importance of procedure, both formal
and informal. (I also learned how to properly prepare blackend redfish,
but that's another story). Then I spent over 18 years working for a mid-sized New Orleans
firm, handling a variety of business disputes. In 2006, six months
after Katrina brought massive change to New Orleans, I decided to start
my own solo law practice. I learned a lot at my old firm and I enjoyed
the exceptional camradarie, but I wanted to practice law in a different
way.
Charles Darwin long ago observed that "it is not the strongest of the species that survive, nor the most intelligent, but the ones most responsive to change." The legal system, long bound by tradition, now struggles to adapt to increasing societal change. Today, lawyers can use technology in novel ways to improve communication and increase efficiency in gathering information. We need to be more adept at handling digital information to fully represent our clients. I believe that clients increasingly need lawyers who look at things in fresh ways, who seek hidden advantages, and who properly assess risk instead of reflexively avoiding it.

A complete list of the over 100 cases I've handled in the local federal court is available here (pdf file). I handle a variety of business disputes including Contracts, Copyright, Computer, Corporate, E-Discovery, Franchise, Internet, Intellectual Property, and Trademark litigation.
